The main conclusions of the research are:

• The majority of respondents (86%) notes that the activity of international investors grow in the Mediterranean region.
• Spain, Greece and Italy are emerging as the most attractive countries for investors.
• The main factors contributing to the popularity of a country for investment is the stable economy and low bank charges (Spain, Italy, France), the incentives for acquiring residence or citizenship (Spain, Portugal, Cyprus), and a growing market with high-performance perspectives (Greece).
• The 55% of respondents consider the Cyclades as the most suitable area for investment in Greece, with first choices those of Santorini, Mykonos and Paros. Athens follows (36%), Crete (27%) and for some respondents attractive investment areas are judged Rhodes and Chalkidiki.
• A 39% of respondents believe that the Costa del Sol and other locations on the coast of Andalucia (Malaga, Marbella, Torremolinos, Fuengirola, Mpenalmadena) are particularly attractive for investments in Spain.
• The 3 and 4-star hotels and resorts are the most popular types of investment among international investors.
• Vacations, a second home and portfolio diversification are the key reasons for hotel investment in the region.
